An intensely perfumed wine. Lively violets and bright red fruit with crushed spice and black pepper and a savory palate of liquorice, pepper and spicy oak.
The fruit was handpicked and fermented using 2 tonne open top fermenters. 30% whole bunch was incorporated and plunged twice daily. The wine was matured in 15% new French oak.
A text book season of warm days cool nights. Winter rain recharged the soil profile in time for spring to kick off with good vigour, resulting in perfect flowering and fruit set. Summer saw rain at regular intervals with no heat waves to stress the vines. Autumn dried off in perfect time for ripening resulting in no botrytis or mildew.
